This is somewhat inspired by the anime "Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade".

The US deal to preserve the Japanese emperor and the entire aristocracy stood in sharp contrast to the vigorous de-Nazification program it carried out in Germany. The allies also formally occupied Germany until 1955, where as the occupation of Japan ended earlier in 1951.

Hirohito's preservation allowed Japan to accept occupation peacefully in 1945. But was this role moot by 1950? If he had been assassinated, would Japan be judged ready for self-rule in 1951?

Also later in 1960, how would a Japan without Hirohito handle the violent objection to the "Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan" - and the assassination of the Japanese Socialist Party head Inejiro Asanuma?
