WI: Henry Wallace stays on as Secretary of Agriculture?

Henry Wallace was a man not suited for Partisan Politics, he was a better Agriculture Secretary than VP or Commerce Sec. But Roosevelt liked the guy, and had him replace Cactus Jack, and was forced to dump him because he knew he'd not live to finish his 4th term. Assuming Wallace stays on as Sec of Ag., then:

1.) How long does he stay, Harold Ickes and Frances Perkins stayed with Roosevelt all the way thru, would Wallace stay that long and beyond? He truly was best suited there.

2.) Who runs with Roosevelt in 1940 and 1944?

Maybe Paul V McNutt would be FDR's Vice President. hHe had support on the convention floor. He would have been renominated in 44 and President in 45. hHe would have done everything Truman did except he would have integrated the military earlier.

You self-absorbed ASB little...

Kidding, I know McNutt was a real politician from Indiana.

I could see him staying as long as he, FDr or his successor wanted.
As for FDR's successor, hopefully anyone but Truman or a Dixiecrat.

Would Roosevelt ask his Sec of State, Cordell Hull in either 1940 (when he was serving) or 1944 (the year he retired) to be his Vice-President?

I think FDR would not want to keep Hull as Secretary of State. hHull resigned for health reasons in November 1944. If he had just been reelect end Vice President. rRoosevelt could recommend someone to the Electors.
