WI Henry VIII's first son survived?

My next timeline, after completion of Isaac's Empire, I have decided to set in Tudor England!
I have several PODs under consideration, but my personal favourite is this; what if Henry VIII's son Henry, Catherine of Aragon's second child, born in 1511, had survived longer? How would Protestantism be affected, as well as the general character of Henry VIII himself? Edward and Elizabeth are almost certain to be butterflied away, but what about Mary, Catherine's only surviving child? What would this Henry IX be like as half-Spanish King of England?
Anyone got any thoughts? :D

England remains Catholic and the Church of England is never formed, obviously, and Henry VIII doesn't divorce Catherine. In OTL she predeceased him, so perhaps Henry would remarry at some point anyway?

Well since i love the other TL BG and i think the tudor period is really interesting i can't wait for this :)

Henry persecuted Protestants until he became one himself--how might prolonged Tudor persecution (without Edward VI) affect English Protestantism?

So now there is a Tudor with a claim to the throne of Castile... that could make things interesting after Ferdinand and Isabella die...

when u going to start this TL?

Not for a while... early next year probably, I need to finish my current Byzantine timeline first

I may also choose a different POD, though I must say I do like the idea of a King of England who is a relative of the Hapsburgs and has a claim to the crown of Spain...

Sure, but you need to get rid of a lot of people in order to make the son of Henry and Catherine have a chance of become king of Spain. She was only the youngest daughter of Isabella and Ferdinand.

Been there, done that. The best POD is 1498 - Joan the Mad dies in labour with her child, who's stillborn. Then her siblings die, except Catalina, who still marries Henry.

Check "This Fair Conjunction" - though I abandoned it after the death of Holy Roman Emperor Henry VIII (I reasoned that no Habsburg candidate would have control of the South American gold deposits, and Francis is discredited by his establishment of a Gallic Church to spite the Pope after a different War of the League of Cambrai).

Oh, sure, I remember "This Fair Conjunction". I still want the Habsburg Portugal you promised...:(:p

inbred freaks

This is an interesting idea, I started writing something along the same lines, which was heading towards Tudor absolutism and a dual monarchy with Scotland.

You want those inbred freaks in charge of your coloniser?

Well, in terms of inbreeding, both the houses of Aviz and Braganza were also fans of it. Just look at the genealogical three of Sebastian I...;)

But I was interested in the idea of a possible alternate Portuguese Charles V: the Habsburg Portuguese king is also the Holy Roman Emperor. He would be absent for long periods from the HRE, but this time he wouldn't have neither the gold nor the manpower of Spain to help him in his wars. And also, there will be the seeds for colonial competition with England/Spain, which would be interesting too.
