WI: Henry VII sponsors Columbus?

After his rejection by John III of Portugal, Christopher Columbus sent his brother to the court of Henry VII to ask for sponsorship. In our timeline, the Tudor monarch declined, which led to the Italian eventually gaining the support of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. What if Henry, who, like Isabella and Ferdinand, was the recent victor of an expensive war, thought Columbus's plan intelligent? What if Christopher Columbus sailed not with the Castle and Lion of Castile on his ships, but the Lion and Tudor Rose of England?

We just had a major discussion on this topic. Columbus would of arrived in American New England or off Atlantic Canada. So the British continue to be centered in north not in carribean.

I'm not sure if Columbus would get the chance to do what he did in the Caribbean in TTL where he likely lands much further north. It would be immediately obvious that they didn't end up in India and with nothing even resembling the promises of gold, the expedition turns into one of exploration and mapping before they turn back and report to whomever is still King in England (Henry VII could get killed by a butterfly, you never know).

It'll all depend on where they land and how large the expedition is. If there's a suffociently large fleet and they land in a place with some resource potential, perhaps they set up a small settlement and attempt to return. The shipbuilding English would see immense value in a land chock full of timber, and the fishing could be much better documented.
