WI: Henry VI Killed at the First Battle of St. Albans?

At the first battle of St. Albans, which kicked off the first phase of the War of the Roses, King Henry was wounded in the neck with a stray arrow. What would the consequences have been if the arrow had killed him?

Long live king Edward IV!

But Henry's son Edward was still two years old.

So who would be regent?

Would it be Margaret of Anjou?

Or Richard of York.

One thing is for sure. The Lancastrian cause is immensely strengthened by the loss of their greatest liability, Henry VI.

Richard of York hasn't claimed the throne yet (he didn't until 1460 OTL), so he'll recognized Edward as king.

This I think changes, if not preventing, the character of any Wars of the Roses that might occur, if it would occur at all.

So we have King Edward IV!

Richard Duke of York becomes Regent for the young Edward IV.

At this point he wasn't claiming the throne and a regency for the young Edward probably makes political sense - and York is the most senior candidate if he can get custody of the young King.

War breaks out again as York's supporters clash with Margaret of Anjou and the young Henry 3rd Duke of Somerset.

York wasn't very good at compromise or admitting his own faults and Margaret of Anjou is going to find him having custody and control of her son after her husband's death impossible to accept.

Because the Yorkist cause would be immensely unpopular in the aftermath of Henry's death, Margaret and some other Lancastrians might outmaneuver York, and deny him the regency in the first place.
