On June 18, 1429, the French army, more-or-less under the command of Joan of Arc, inflicted on the English a defeat in the Battle of Patay almost as crushing as the one the English had inflicted on them 14 years earlier @ Agincourt.
The English then had been commanded by
Henry V. He of course wasn’t @ Patay, having died in 1422. But WI:
Henry was not only still alive- he was @ Patay but slain by the French. What would have been the consequences-
*- For Joan’s future career?(Would she now
have had so much prestige that Charles VII
would have been forced to- unlike IOTL- save
her if the English captured her? Could Charles have even felt that, peasant though
she is, it’d be best to put his Queen aside &
make Joan his queen?)
*- For the future course of the HYW?(Could
this shorten it?)
*- And last, bit assuredly not least, what would this have meant for England?(An earlier start to TWOTR?)
