FTWDK, Hedy Lamarr and George Antheil invented an early form of frequency hopping, and presented it to the US Navy; they were rebuffed, though a similar device was used two decades later during the Cuban missile crisis.
So what if the Navy had adopted this invention for use in torpedoes during WWII? Would it have worked; would it have come in handy for the allies at any point during the war effort, and if so, how would the war be affected? And what about the implications of a world famous actress' engineering feat actually getting any recognition? (And yes, I've been reading Cracked -- sue me.)
CONSOLIDATE: Oh, and almost forgot -- do we see any civilian technology move up post-war? Maybe earlier WiFi?
Also, not of the OP but speaking of Hedy Lamarr "what if"s, seems she was considered for Bergman's role in Casablanca...
