WI: Harry Truman runs for re-election in 1952?

In 1951, the 22nd ammendment was passed, which limited presidents to two terms. However, a grandfather clause was put into place that made Truman exempt from the ammendment, meaning that he could have legally ran for as many terms as he wanted. In 1952, he chose not to seek re-election. What if he had? How would Truman have fared against Eisenhower in 1952?

I think that it would be doubtful that Truman would have been able to win the Democratic nomination in 1952, let alone the presidency. His approval ratings were below 30% for a good portion of his last year in office and only barely struggled above 30% near the end of his presidency. He was blamed for the loss of china to communism, the Soviets getting the bomb and the Korean stalemate. If he had managed to somehow beat stevenson for the nomination, more than likely Eisenhower would have still won with a comfortable margin.

The only way Truman has a chance is if:

1. Eisenhower mishandles the McCarthy attacks on George Marshall in a way that destroys their relationship. Truman is very well placed to exploit this, as he and Marshall got along famously. And:

2. The Nixon VP selection blows up in their face. Nixon screws up the Checkers Speech, and Eisenhower looks as foolish as McGovern did 20 years later when he boots his VP off the ticket.

Could Truman have been perceived to have 'won' the Korean war?

Possibly no McArthur and the right back chanels hints, reassurances and threats passed to Mao?/
