As I understand it there were two factors in McMillan’s resignation in 1963. The first was his ill health. I have heard it said that he might have been told that it was worse than it actually was. Health could be butterflied away

The other factor was Profumo

The Profumo scandal was exposed in significant degree because two of the women involved got shot at- a very rare event and the crazy young man with a gun might easily just not have met these two ladies

Now I think McMillan wins the 1964 election, possibly in the spring (In OTL it was close even though Sir Alec Douglas Home seems to have been given a Charisma- ectomy.)

I do not think that McMillan’s policies on most domestic issues would be that different to Wilson’s in OTL.

Two issues

1) Harold Mc Millan loved America – would he send troops to Vietnam, or could he have talked LBJ out of it.

2) Would the various progressive bits on social legislation have gone through, abolishing capital punishment and theatre censorship, partial legalization of homosexuality and abortion have happened as well as no fault divorce

Then there is also a question about the election of 1968 or 1969
