WI: Halo was released on the PS2?

What if Bungie had decided to make their game on the PS2 rather than the Xbox? Would this drive the shooter market away from the Xbox? Would it become a failed console?

The way I see it right now, it WOULD carry the shooter market to the PS2. The Xbox would flop and Microsoft would leave the video game industry, probably not even going to purchase Minecraft.

Microsoft bought Bungie in 1998, specifically for the production of Halo. Basically, Bungie was having problems porting the Marathon series to PC and fifth-generation game consoles, and Microsoft knew that without a killer application, the original X-Box would have been an absolute turkey.

Basically, what would have to happen would be the likes of Activision, Bethesda, 3DO, Id Software, Valve, Interplay, or Lionhead to have made a tender offer before Microsoft found them. (Not Electronic Arts; they were already the Evil Empire because of what was happening to Origin Systems, Maxis, Bullfrog, Microprose, and New World Computing and their respective intellectual properties.)

now I was brought here so maybe Sony Halo not sells well and Sony Goes Bankrupt The same With Microsoft?

I don't think a ps2 halo selling bad would hurt Sony given that it doesn't change the near implausible success of the ps2.

back when Halo was a mac game a ps2 port was planned. if halo had been made an Xbox exclusive and had been a Mac/Pc game ported to ps2 we might have had the 3rd person action game it was originally designed for.

One bad game release generally doesn't kill an entire console, especially considering how successful the PS2 was.
