What do you all think would of been the end outcome if the Teutonic Knights would have decisively won the Battle of Grunwald against Poland instead of getting crushed in the battle.
IMO the battle of Grunwald is overestimated. The Prussian Union more contributed to the fall of the Order state than lost battles. That's the POD for my second AAR (see my sig). However, most of mine is complete ASB taking advantage of Eu3's game engine in every way possible.
It would lead to a stronger Ordensstaat for sure. They would probably retain Samogitia depending on the nature of the victory. Whether the Order would have been able to resist further attacks in the future is uncertain.
But hey, even Kurland set up colonies, so if the Ordensstaat survived longer, why not them too?
Yes and no. Among the reasons Prussian Union was unhappy with the Order were high taxes. And they were necessary, because the Order had to pay ransoms for knights (guest of the Order, not brethren) captured by Poles and Lithuanians in battles. There was also a matter of reparations for Poland and many towns, villages and castles ruined by war.IMO the battle of Grunwald is overestimated. This only fastened events. In 15th century the Order begun more and more to rely on mercenaries and as consequence needed more money.Originally posted by abas
