WI: Gregory the Patrician's Empire survives?

So what if Gregory the Partician, self-proclaimed "Emperor of Africa" survives his battle with the invading Arabs, and manages to at least halt the Arab invasion? What would be the immediate butterfly effect of that?

Well you would pretty much have a situation similar to the Ptolemies when they ran Egypt a couple centuries back. A Greek-led, multiethnic empire consisting of North Africa which was a major source of grain for the Roman Empire, would happen and it would be a powerful bulwark to the Arabs. Maybe Gregorius' successors try conquering Italia?
 
African Romance and the Berber languages instead of Arabic become predominant in North Africa so there would be a lot more cultural and linguistic diversity in the region. Arian Christianity would also remain for the most part.
