WI:Golden Horde converts to Orthodoxy and absorbs the Rus states

Is it possible for the Khans of Golden Horde to intermarry with the Ruriks of Kievian Rus which will lead to direct Mongol rule and integration of the Rus principalities once the male lines of Rurik die one by one just like what Lithuania did in OTL if that happens how will this fusion of Golden Horde and Rus will look like?.

Why would they want to do that?

They already have the Rus paying tribute, already can meddle in their internal affairs and in regards to their princes . . . the status quo is good until long after the decision to convert to Islam was made.

early mongols was in no way religiously uniform ... there were both Buddist, Nestorian christians, both flavors of Islam and Tengrist mongols

And if given a PoD with a Nestorian Mongol making a succesful powergrab, much can happen.

Would the current pope call on them to aid them in a crusade? I've considered the possibility that Mongols might settle in the middle east as well.

The Mongols did visit the Middle East and since 1054 the Pope and the Orthodox Church didn't get on. See the Great Schism

Actually, the Schism became irreconcilable because the crusaders conquered the Byzantium, I just don't know how to have the schism healed after the crusade.

What attraction does Orthodoxy hold other than having the favour of the Russians?

The main trade partners are in the south. The bureaucracy is drawn from among the Muslims. It makes no real sense to convert to anything else, unless you're going for a very early divergence (before Berke takes the throne basically).

May be, if Sartaq lived longer?
"The Armenian writers, for example, alleged that Sartaq was brought up and baptized among the Russians."
"Sartaq's daughter Theodora (or Theothiure) was the wife of Gleb Vasilkovich first Prince Belozersky of Beloozero and Rostov, a grandson of Konstantin of Rostov and first cousin once removed of Alexander Nevsky. Their descendants include Ivan IV of Russia and innumerable families of Russian nobility."
There is version, that her daughter, Maria, was a wife of Daniel of Moscow (Prince in 1276-1303).

Technically the Golden Horde *did* wind up completely altering the nature of Russian development. Moscow went from trading depot to Grand Duchy purely because of the Horde, and defeated Tver and everything else in the Vladimir-Suzdal region again because of the Horde. There needs, however, to be a very good reason for them to convert, however. One that's hard to find in the OTL course of the Khanate's history.

Having Berke killed off early would help. Since Berke was pretty much responsible for Sartaq's death.
