WI: Germany got to keep Alsace Lorraine after WWI

Is this with a German victory or an Entente Victory? Because there absolutely no way Germany keeps a hold of A-L with an Entente Victory

Well if they win ww1, or even gust tie then Germany most likely dose keep A-L whether this leades to a ww2 scenario really depends on how France deals with the loss in ww1, it could either consider any war whith Germany a lost cause or it could get a refanchist government like what Germany got and try for it a gain in 20 years, it really gust depends and it could lead to any number of out comes, but one thing is for sertrn any ww1 in which France is on the winning side and Germany the losing is going to lead to A-L being transfer to France it is gust to important to Frances psyche.

It takes a CP victory or a white peace/status quo antebellum to keep Alsace-Lorraine. Since the end of the Franco-Prussian War the recovery of Alsace-Lorraine has been literally a holy crusade for France. If Alsace-Lorraine remains German, IMHO France will still want it back, however assuming a WWII starts in 1939 by then you have at least 3 generations there who have lived as Germans. Sure there are "french" families, and a lot speak French at home, but otherwise...

A quick end to the war could get you a status quo ante vellum peace, alternatively a german victory before Christmas could also deliver that. Otherwise, I don’t see how A-L could remain in imperial hands. In either cases, France is either slightly or much more diminished as far as its influence in Europe is concerned, but it could do two things and succeed perhaps to a degree higher than IRL: either try to rebuild its influence and cooperate with the Teutonic masters of Europe, thus establishing trade pacts, customs unions and an enlarged Latin Monetary union so that the French economy can benefit, or wholly focus on the colonies and integrate as many as possible, while “abandoning” any ambitions in Europe. I think it could actually prove a good thing for France, if handled carefully that is and if it does not result in significant political unrest(which would be extremely difficult). If they manage to pull it off however, with far more frenchmen(as a result of a shorter war), France is more prosperous, more influential as well as richer today. Maybe that France can afford to mend fences and build bridges with a dated Germany.
