Are you talking of "appeasement" generally, as in "to pacify or placate", or capital letter Appeasement policy as trademarked by Chamberlain? No, you are talking of appeasement. History tells us that trying that with Hitler did not bring peace.
Italy, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, Sweden, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Romania "appeased" Germany, either by trading with them, or allying them. Dealing with Hitler prevented those countries from being invaded by Germany. Until they back-stabbed Germany that is, so you might add Yugoslavia to that list.
If anything, Czechoslovakia was exception to general trend how "appeasing" Germany turned out.
Sad reality of life was that Germany was among strongest country in Europe, and it would naturally dominate it's neighbors via unequal agreements. Because no other great power was seriously willing to defend them, nor could they ever agree to band together to defend each other (via ridiculous concept of "Miedzymorze"), it was duty of their leaders to come with best possible accommodation they could get. Not because becoming satellites of great powers was in any way desirable, but because there wasn't really a better option. Poland was "first to fight", but throwing herself onto sword in typical Polish martyrology to "defend Europe" from Hitler didn't really end well for them (counting by number of deaths from crimes against humanity, "cowardly Czechs" were still way better off than Poles).
Transit by water is usually cheaper. It wasn't necessarily about money. And once again, most shipment from say Berlin to Köngsberg would travel over the Baltic Sea either way, wouldn't it?
