I've been thinking about this for a little bit, perhaps a possible timeline. How different would the political landscape be today if Ford was shot on September 22nd, 1975 in San Francisco?
If he survived, would that have any butterfly effects on the '76 election? Would goodwill towards Ford allow him to win the nomination easier? Could he win the Presidency instead of Carter? Or would Reagan manage to defeat the shaken Ford? Would Reagan win the Presidency?
If Ford is killed, does Rockefeller serve as a good President? Would he run for reelection(as he hadn't made his announcement to retire from politics until November OTL)? Could he beat Reagan? Carter? As the 25th Amendment states if the VP serves less than two years he can run for President for two more terms IIRC, if he wins in '76, could he run again in 1980? Would he win (or even run) with the maladies of OTL Carter's term?
Sorry if this is incorrectly done, this is my first post.
