WI: Georgs HW Bush defeated Ralph Yarborough in the 1964 Texas Senate race

That's hard to do given that Bush lost by almost 13 points. But in the event that Bush somehow did win the election, he would become an important figure in the GOP far earlier than OTL. Scoring such a major upset would give him significant national status, and possibly set him up for the Vice-Presidency in 1968. (This actually happens in @President_Lincoln's TL "Blue Skies in Camelot.") If Nixon passes over him Bush might be a replacement VP pick in 1972, or Ford's choice in either 1973 or 1976. Becoming VP under Nixon would catapult Bush to the presidency, but becoming VP under Ford would kill his chances at occupying the White House. Even if the Ford/Bush ticket defeats Carter in 1976, Vice-President Bush would certainly lose the 1980 election in the midst of a poor economy and incumbency fatigue.
