WI George Washington was never born

Would there still be a successful American revolution?

If so would it have been very different?

Who would be the first President?

Conceivably, one could butterfly away the entire Seven Years War, with massive consequences.

Assuming that history went more or less along the same lines and the Revolution broke out on schedule, I don't see the Americans winning. Few historical figures have had so much depending upon them as Washington did during the Revolution.

Indeed. Even if Washington had been killed early on in the war, at Long Island, or if von Rall had heeded the warning he received and had been waiting for Washington's army at Trenton instead of being totally surprised it's hard to see a path to victory for America. At this point, Washington's character and gravitas was essential for success. As it was the American leadership spent far too much time squabbling and some of the senior military leaders had little to recommend them.

I propose that Martha Dandridge Custis, who at 27 in 1759 is widowed, marries wealthy widower Charles Carter (1707-1764) who served as a justice of the peace in King George County and as the commanding officer of the county militia.

Together they have two children, before Carter's death, John Dandridge Carter (b. 1760) and Elizabeth (b. 1764) this gave Martha seventeen children to care for. Four from her first marriage, eleven from Charles' first marriage and two from their joint marriage.

Without Washington, the Jumonville Glen incident and Fort Nessecity never happens unless governor Dinwiddie finds someone else.

This potentially butterflies away the entire seven years war, which in turn means the revolution never happens
