WI: George Washington dies at the battle of Monongahela

In the Battle of Monongahela, George Washington had just recantially taken command of Braddock's Army after Braddock was killed. Later, when Washington was organizing a retreat, a bullet pierced his jacket. What if said bullet pierced Washington and he dies?

A Revolution that is remarkably short. Washington was pretty much the only general around, meaning that we see widespread revolts rather than unified resistance.

************That does NOT, however, mean that just because we see the American Revolution put down once doesn't mean that the U.S. won't successfully declare its independence later, when it has another general.

Not true, Washington was not the only general around, he was the only one who could keep general support for his command despite setbacks, and probably the only one who could keep the south (especially Virgina) fighting for Independence. The war can either by very short, find another Washingtonesque figure, or go in another direction entirely. After all a British observer at the time gives us a good picture at the ability of the British leadership at the time, "Any General but Howe could beat Washington, and General but Washington could beat Howe."
