WI George W. Bush Marries Tricia Nixon

George W. Bush went on a disastrous first date with the daughter of President Richard Nixon in the late 1960s, according to new details divulged by the former president in a memoir about his father.

George H W Bush—then a Texas congressman—arranged for his 22-year-old son, who was then a pilot in the National Guard, to meet Tricia Nixon at a gala in honor of the Apollo 8 spaceflight crew. It all went downhill from there, the Telegraph reports.

"During dinner, I reached for some butter, knocked over a glass, and watched in horror as the stain of red wine crept across the table," Bush writes. "Then I fired up a cigarette, prompting a polite suggestion from Tricia that I not smoke."

The date came to an abrupt end, Bush writes, when Nixon asked to be taken back to the White House "immediately after dinner," a drive he remembered with a twinge of embarrassment more than thirty years later, when he returned to the White House as the nation's 43rd president.

So, what if their first date goes better, one thing leads to another, and eventually the two marry in the early-mid 1970s? Would Bush still pursue a career in politics? Would he manage to get his drinking and drug use under control or stop it before it started?

If he did go into politics as OTL would having Richard Nixon as a family member change things?

A short video of him talking about the date.

But, I imagine the connection won't hurt to much. The real question is if she can get him off the booze as his wife OTL helped him do. The late 60s and early 70s he was still drinking a fair bit and a DUI from back then almost cost him the WH in 2000 when it came out days before the vote. Certainly it threw the vote into a tie within the MOE in the last few days.

Either way Bush was almost destined for the WH with his connections, political acumen and personality as long as he could get motivated and get off alcohol.

He marries her and their three future kids take up the name Bush-Nixon.

Also in 1963, Jean Kennedy Smith (aged 35) divorces her husband and marries FDR Jr (aged 49). They have twins, who take up the name Kennedy-Roosevelt.

It is from these families that all future US Presidents up to 2017 are descended.

How exciting! What happens in 2017?

There is a constitutional convention sooner or later. The amendment resembles something like this.

SECTION 1: No person shall be eligible to hold the offices of President or Vice President if that person’s spouse, grandparent, step-parent, sibling, half sibling or first degree cousin, either related biologically or by adoption, previously held the office of the presidency.

Section 2: No person who has previously held the office of the presidency may hold any sort of elected federal position.

Don't see that happening, nor could I support such an amendment. May be a good idea, but, I think it's not good law.
