Trial and Removal
Well, seeing as how the Repubs lost big in OTL's 2006 mid-terms, I'm going to assume they're gonna lose even worse in the wake of Condigate.
And since 2006 is when people really started hating Dubya, I can see him being successfully impeached...though this would of course result in a POTUS Dick Cheney, which people may not prefer to a humiliated and lame-ducked Bush, who I can't see pulling a Nixon.
Does anybody remember civics class? 2/3's supermajority in the Senate
trial for conviction and removal. The Clinton Impeachment was only the House's way
of flipping the bird, esp. when they knew there was no way 13 Democratic
Senators were going to defect. The whole thing was an exercise was in political
fundraising and propaganda to rile up the base voters and get a landslide.
It worked-FOR THE DEMOCRATS

I just can't see Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as being like the kind of fanatics
who led the Crusade Against the Clintons. They would want Bush right
where he is. Bush had considerable wisdom in naming Cheney his
VP. If someone tried to shoot Bush, the whole country would try to
get in the way of that bullet
