WI: George I of Hanover marries Mary of Modena

I was wondering if it is possible for George I of Hanover to marry Mary of Modena, I know this would unite the lines of Hanover and Modena.. they are descended from the same Royal House.

I am asking this because I am planning a TL where in the Welfs inherit the Italian Welf lands by marriage and inherit Savoy due to the extinction of the Savoyards and a marriage between a Welf and the House of Savoy and later unite Italy, I am also planning for the children of Anne of Great Britain to survive.

Religion issue apart, George I married whom he married for a reason - his wife was the heiress to Principality of Celle, the only part of Hannoverian lands not united by George's father. IDK, want to see more detailed TL.

There was also the substantial dowry that his wife came with, not to mention the property that her father had conferred upon her personally. It made her quite an attractive bride despite her naturalized status. IIRC, there were proposals from Carl XI of Sweden, Max II Emanuel of Bavaria, the king of Denmark, the duke of Brunswick and someone else for her hand before "old pig-snout" got to marry her. In fact, he agreed to marry her the day her engagement to the duke of Brunswick was due to be announced.

I think that Mary of Modena's religion would hinder George I's chances of gaining the throne after all, the British Government and Public would fear that she was trying to return the country back to the hand of the Pope. So Mary is out of the picture.

Stopping George from marrying Sophia Dorothea of Celle is easy as his mother did not at first like the idea of her son marrying a daughter of a common mistress.
Other options are:
- Princess Eleonore Erdmuthe of Saxe-Eisenach (IOTL future mother-in-law of George II)
- Countess Sophie Henriette of Waldeck
