Things that would probably happen in a Romanov-led USSR

Say that for whatever reason Mikhail Gorbachev's rival in the politburo succeeded Chernenko in 1985. How would the Cold War go with Romanov leading the USSR?

Although there are some contradicting sources/stories, I believe Grishin was the primary rival to Gorbachev. Romanov was backing Grishin.

Best guess, is that Romanov is somewhat of a younger Brezhnev although if you wish to see some literary license, feel free to check out my "on hiatus" TL.

Unfortunately, by the mid-1980s, the necessary structural changes were not made, and Romanov is not the kind of person that is capable of producing.

It would be quiet ironic when last names of last czar and last general secretary is Romanov.
