WI Geiseric installed Gaudentius as Emperor in 455 AD?

In 455, Roman emperor Valentinian IIIhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentinian_III was murdered on orders of Petronius Maximus, who usurped the throne. Geiseric was of the opinion that these acts voided his 442 peace treaty with Valentinian, and on May 31, he and his men landed on Italiansoil and marched on Rome, where Pope Leo I http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Leo_I implored him not to destroy the ancient city or murder its inhabitants. Geiseric agreed and the gates of Rome were thrown open to him and his men. Maximus, who fled rather than fight the Vandal warlord, was killed by a Roman mob outside the city...in this occasion, Gaundentius was made a prisoner and brought back to Africa and Geiseric claimed that his attacks to Italy were to recover Gaudentius' legacy.
WI Geiseric pressed the Senate to proclaim Gaudentius (a child of 15 yo by that time) as Western Emperor?
How is this altering History? Any thoughts?

Support from the Visigoths or the Eastern Romans may have been more solid than from the Vandals. They were a very small tribe to begin with. And even under Geiseric's leadership, these were the sort of people that had to carefully choose their battles. If Geiseric tried to install a new Emperor in the west, I think that his puppet would have been rather quickly deposed by rebels, or from forces of the Eastern Romans. Raiding is one thing the Vandals could do, but they didn't quite have the manpower to keep the west Romans compliant.

By holding Carthage and North Africa Geizeric controlled the grain flow to Western Empire... This gave him virtually the control of WRE and the power to be a Kingmaker... How about an alliance with Huns or Visigoths?

Dont forget that Gaudentius was the son of Flavius Aetius... Visigoths might have accepted him as a puppet Emperor...

Wasn't Geiseric's son, Huneric once married to the daughter of the Visigothic King Theoderic, until she was brought up on trumped up charges for trying to poison her husband, and subsequently mutiliated? Because you might want to decide if he even wants Huneric to marry into the western Imperial family, before he starts scratching the Visigothic back.

Maybe turning WRE into a multicultural society? A confederation of Roman-Vandal-Visigoth-Hunnic leaders with Gaudentius as a figurehead?

Maybe Huneric can marry Gaudentius's sister... She was married to Thraustila if i remember correctly (Thraustila was one of Valentinian III assassins) Geizeric would have gained Visigothic support but he would loose Hunnic support...
