WI: Gaul’s destroy Rome in 390 BC
Could the Gaul’s have completely destroyed Rome in 390 BC if they wanted to? Let’s assume for this that the Gaul’s are not interested in a negotiated settlement and are set on completely looting and destroying the city. For this scenario if they fail to take the city in its entirety then they will turn back and leave. I know a good amount of Romans were still holding out on Capitoline Hill, would the Gaul’s have massacred them or would the Romans be able to hold out? I know also epidemic was a problem for the attacking army could that have stopped them?
