WI Gandhi Had Lived?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone has come up with this idea @ least for a while.
Anyway, this thread is what the title says. Would he have just declined into obscurity & been
forgotten? (This is my own personal guess). Would Nehru & Co. have politely listened to him, &
then done as they pleased? Or would Gandhi have become, in fact if not in name, the most im-
portant person in the new Indian government? Or would he have become an important & influ-
entail international diplomat, perhaps even becoming the UN's Secretary-General? Or would
Gandhi have gone to America to help MLK & the fledgling civil rights movement?

Agree with previous one. There hardly would had been much changes when Gandhi would had died in few years due his high age and poor health. Altough he might had been awarded with Nobel Peace Award in 1948 or 1949 like was planned.

One of the "best" things that can happen to a statesman is for them to die at a high point in their careers, leaving their legacy untarnished by their human flaws and later failures.

"All political lives, unless they are cut off in midstream at a happy juncture, end in failure, because that is the nature of politics and of human affairs."

Who said that excellent quote Jinx?

Enoch Powel. An individual with a rather . . . . mixed at best . . . reputation, but a dab hand with a turn of phrase.
