Hello there everyone.
I actually never heard about this before today, but apparently in the mid 15th century Friedrich II of Brandenburg was asked to take up the Crowns of Bohemia and Poland respectively.
I can't really find detailed information about when exactly either crown was offered to him though (I would guess somewhere inbetween 1437 and 1470)
If someone has more info on that (there surely are some well-read hobby historians here), I'm eager for more information on this.
Anyway. Best case scenario. He accepts the crowns of Bohemia AND Poland and with that would also gain the crown of Lithuania.
- Will this lead to a more pronounced german eastward movement?
- Is war with Muscovy on the horizon?
- What about the Teutonic Order? Will they still get a Hohenzollern and reform to Prussia?
- Will it be Brandenburg/Prussia instead of Russia moving towards the Pacific?
- What about developments in the HRE. e.g.: Will Brandenburg still go after Pomerania?
- And who might think that Friedrich is getting to much power with this? He would have two electorates in the HRE. Will it lead to war or pressure to not accept the crowns in the first place?
Anyway.
I honestly have no answers to the points above and some people will probably have even more questions than those I asked above.
If anyone has any ideas on this, I'm eager to hear them.
Wish all of you a good start into the new year.
Cheers
