WI: French victory in the Italian Wars

The French manage to win the Italian Wars, uniting France, Naples and Milan in a personal union. With such a strong French presence in Italy, I'm guessing that the other states in the peninsula would end up as basically French satellites, but what other effects would there be? Would the extra resources of Milan and Naples translate into French domination of the continent, and perhaps even a French King as Holy Roman Emperor? And would France be more drawn into Mediterranean affairs, and if so, with what result?

There were numerous Italian Wars, which one are you talking about? It matters greatly.

As for a French HRE, nope, unless France goes full Napoleon and subjugates the princes the French king wouldn't be able to be elected, the only serious attempt was Francis and when it became clear that he couldn't bribe all electors Charles got the title unanimously.

Say the Second Italian War. Perhaps Gonzalo de Cordoba falls off his horse and dies shortly before the conflict breaks out, and without his leadership skills the Spaniards are unable to drive the French out of Naples.
