WI: Fred Hampton escapes assassination attempt

Fred Hampton was a prominent Black Civil Activist during the 1960s and Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers. He was one of the most active spokesman for the Black Panthers Party and using his influence within the community, he forged allegiance with Latino and other young peoples gangs. This to the FBI made him a threat. In they year of 1969 he was killed by Chicago Police officers, in what many believe was an FBI sponsored assassination.

What could have happened, had he survived the attempt on his life?

Forming alliances with other minorities is heady stuff and has a lot of potential.

If we really want to go high trajectory, Fred reaches out to working-class whites during the 1970s and do so without giving away the store. And during the slow erosion of middle-class jobs during the '70s and '80s, he becomes one of the most reasoned, patient, and fact-based speakers on the importance of creating more good jobs.
