What if Gavrilo Principe in his assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot yet not killed? What would have been Austria-Hungary's reaction? Would The events that caused WW1 still occur ie July Crisis, Ultimatum, etc?
Depends on how badly hit; FF was the head of the peace faction, so if he can contribute to the war debate he might well be the one that stops the war. Is his wife still killed? That might change a lot.
He becomes more influential of he still seeks peace as he bears the wounds of war. If he is still around in 1916 look for a Federated States of Central Europe or somesuch as he works to decentralize and restabilize AH(C?) before it collapses.
