WI Frank Sinatra played Terry Malloy?

Sinatra'd already been signed for "On the Waterfront" when producer Sam Spiegel learned he could get Brando, & fired Sinatra. So WI he hadn't found out? Or decided not to fire Sinatra, because they'd already started shooting, or something? How much difference would it make to the film? To Sinatra's career? Would it have a big effect on Hollywood?

I don't see the film doing as well critically (& even then, it would earn Oscar noms for Malden at least), but otherwise...

Y'know, even for a really low-budget film, this is pretty awful boxoffice.:eek: I thought Sinatra had more fans.;)

Sinatra was a very good actor if he had a good script and a good director and the script by Budd Schulbeg and directed by Elia Kazan were great.
Frank Sinatra more than held his opposite Marlon Brando in Guys and Dolls and I think that he would have been just as good as Brando in the film.
