WI : Franco-Polish Personnal Union

Before becoming King of the French in 1575, Henri III de Valois was elected King of Poland-Lithuania in 1573. However, when he took the throne in Paris, he dropped his in Warsaw.
What if he hadn't? What if the French Royalists had had the ressources of Poland to crush the Guisard Ultra-Catholics? (Protestants under Henri de Navarre were not a threat as their goals was the same as the King's).
What if Henri III had manage to maintain a France-Commonwealth personnal union going on even after his death? (He didn't have any male issue, and his heir was his cousin Henri de Navarre)

Problem was Poles would not have been that interested in any kind of intervention in France. They prefered their king to stay in Poland and deal with Polish problems. Later Sigismund III had a lot of problems with keeping his Swedish throne (which he lost anyway), also because Poles did not want to let him go to Sweden, although perhaps Henry's escape might be a factor here. Not to mention distance would make any intervention a little difficult.
Another thing is, Polish throne was not hereditary anymore (unlike the French one), so even if Henry III had kept his Polish crown, he would have had a poor chance to leave it to Henry of Navarre.

No, militarily speaking both states could be gobbling some HRE additionnal land. Poland could use Silesia or Pomerania.

How does that help France exactly? Henri III was first and foremost French. At that time France was beset by civil war and religious conflict and was in no position to start any foreign adventures. At the same time Poland would not be in any position to aid the Valois in France, nor would they wish to. The union wouldn't be a help to either nation and would never last, as OTL proved.
