How? the New Netherlands was right between two English colonies, reasonably far away from the French colonies. Besides that, the Dutch fleet was superior to the French fleet, at least in the 17th century when it was relevant in this case. In short, I don't think the French can take the New Netherlands, at least not before the English do and if the English leave the New Netherlands for the Dutch, they will prevent the French from taking it.
