WI: France sides with Germany in 1940?

Darlan being more adventurous = the marine nationale goes allied in 41.
He hated the germans even more than the british and thoroughly despised Laval.

A Vichy dow could work, but Darlan did not merely fear retaliating, he gave strict orders, multiple times, against any sortie against the british: he didn't want it.

That's the same Darlan who signed the Paris Protocols with Hitler opening the way for limited military cooperation with Germany, remember. And the same who said "I obey a primal instinct: hatred for Britain".

And I think I read there was a raid against Bigraltar by French seaplane torpedo bombers, if memory serves me right.

I think Darlan goes Allied once the US have joined the fray. Before that, I think it's prudent to consider his options are much, much more flexible.
