WI France invades Papal States in 1303?

In 1303 Philipe IV of France and Pope Boniface VIII clashed over who has higher authority...
In OTL in September Guillaume de Nogaret lead a delegation to Rome with secret orders to capture Boniface VIII and bring him to the King of France...
Guillaume de Nogaret captured the Pope after conspiring with Cardinals from the Colonna family (they were traditional enemies of the Pope) in Anagni..
However Boniface VIII was freed by popular uprising 3 days later...
WI instead sending Nogaret Philippe invaded Papal States with his armies depose the Pope and installing one of the Colonna Cardinals (or a layman) as new Pope?
How is this altering French and European History?
