IOTL, during the Polish royal election of 1697, there were two (of a total of eighteen) candidates of most importance among the Sejm. One of them was Frederick Augustus I, Elector of Saxony, who converted to Catholicism to make a run for the crown, and the other was François Louis, Prince of Conti, a relative of King Louis XIV of France (who supported François). The election was heavily contested.
However, François showed some very hesitant behaviour when departing for his election in Poland. He seems to have made several delays. When he arrived in Gdansk, he was informed that Augustus of Saxony had just been elected and crowned. François, after then, seems to have simply given up and gone back to France.
But what if he had instead decided to fight for the Polish-Lithuanian crown? Could we see an early Polish Succession War flaring up?

Bumping.
Could Sweden take advantage of Poland's period of turmoil, assuming that François can indeed contest Augustus II?
