OTL, François married Eleonore of Austria-Burgundy-Spain as his second wife, but they had no children. I've never been able to figure out if this was because he considered 3 boys security enough for the succession (joke was on him, in that regard, since only one of them survived François) and spent more time with his mistresses, or whether Eleonore just avoided François' bed (the man was also said to be syphilitic, so that could be another reason).

I'm not sure Eleonore was too old, since she'd have been 32yo at the time of the marriage and two of her aunts (Maria and Catalina of Aragon) and her youngest sister were still having kids at that age.

So what if she manages one or two kids with François? Would she leave them as she did her daughter in Portugal when François dies? Would a daughter be considered a more worthwhile match than François' girls by Claude? And a son? Perhaps a match for Jeanne d'Albret?
