Well it's hard to see the press treating her worse than "Joe Who?"
Given the reasonable assumption that she will bring in similar staff who got Joe Clark within a hair's breadth of a majority even with his poor public image I'd wager she'd certainly stand to do better particularly in Ontario and the Maritime Provinces. I don't see the Tories doing better than they did in Quebec unless Wagner or Mulroney wins and MacDonald's probably going to be less popular in the West. The question is how it all shakes out. If she wins a majority it will be incredibly narrow, more likely she ends up with a strong minority in 1979 but there I think she probably governs more effectively. As Canada's first female PM she's not going to risk getting turfed on her first budget, so she's going to make sure that she has the support of the RC.
How she'd handle the 1980 Quebec referendum or whatever shakes out is the real question. In OTL the BQ launched it with the express hope of campaigning against Joe Clark would they be so eager to go up against Flora?
