Dave Fleischer was an early competitor to Disney who created Bimbo, Betty Boop, and Popeye. His cartoons were known for being very wild in style and sometimes risque in humor (by "wild in style," I mean stuff like waving arms, lots of crazy imagery). He also was an early experimenter with sound cartoons, including ones set to popular swing songs.
By contrast, Disney applied a more conservative, realistic approach to his cartoons.
What effects do you think it would have on the history of animation if Fleischer and Disney's roles were reversed?
