The First Moroccan Crisis took place in 1905 when Kaiser William II attempted to create a breach in the recent Entente Cordiale between France and England. By opposing French colonialism in Morocco, the Kaiser believed he could create a breach between the French Republic and England, whom he did not believe would support the French claims. Things did not work out according to the Kaiser's plans, as every nation outside of Austria-Hungary supported the French, and he was forced to back down in an international conference.

My question is how this diplomatic crisis could have led to a general European War, and how such a conflict might have developed, especially with a Pre-Dreadnought RN, and no Anglo-Russian Alliance to threaten the German Empire to the East?
