WI FDR gets a 50 state sweep?

Relatively minor change, but what would it mean to both parties that FDR got every electoral vote in 1936, where in OTL he only lost Vermont and Maine to Alf Landon?

The Democrats winning Vermont in the thirties would be like them winning Oklahoma or Utah today. Even in 1936 with Landon doing so badly everywhere else he won Vermont 56-43. It was the most strongly Republican state in the union, never once voting for a Democratic candidate in its history until LBJ's 1964 landslide.

Yes, IIRC the process of Vermont realigning to a Democratic Party permament majority was only completed under Howard Dean.

That said, '36 was 81 thousand to 62 thousand in Vermont. And Maine was 121 thou to 168.

Maybe a French-Canadian-derived Yankee running mate for FDR tips the balance?

Okay, so that has bigger consequences than merely demonstrating the EC to be a little farcicial in one election...

I think it's plausible if the Republicans nominate a conservative, rather than the progressive Landon in '36.

Roosevelt didn't seem to grasp the reality of how easily he would win, perhaps for some reason he does and actively campaigns in these states?

Either way, it makes no real difference other than an addition to quiz books.
