Say, some Southern Ming loyalists after escaping to Taiwan, after considering the situation, build tons of ships to go to the New World in 1670.

The Chinese already known about the New World, with Spain’s yearly galleons coming from Acapulco to the Philippines.

Say they establish a colony in OTL Seattle/San Fransisco, and the Qing doesn’t care after annexing Taiwan (the exiled Ming Dynasty will probably relinquish it’s claims in China after a few generations forging a new identity and culture or if threatened by the Qing.)

Obviously the Spanish could annex them easily, but let’s say there is a huge amount of immigration coming from East Asia, and the colony reaches 3 million by 1770, with enough population to make conquest a hassle.

What are the effects? I assume this China on the West Coast will be modernised after being exposed to Western ideas.
