WI: Evidence of the Cambodian Genocide mostly destroyed?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodian_genocide_denial

Nothing hurts the cause of an evil regime like the truth and it sure did hurt the warped cause of the Khmer Rogue and rightfully so when evidence of their antics came out when the war between Cambodia and Vietnam happened. But of course there always had to be apologists and deniers regarding terrible atrocities and the Cambodian Genocide is no exception, except its a completely fringe thing given the massive amount of evidence that well destroyed the denial movement.

Now with a POD no sooner than 1975, is there a possible way to destroy the evidence in that it would enable the denial movement much longer than it had IOTL? (and yes somehow trying to keep Vietnam from invading Cambodia at the same time counts)

Simple, give enough time or the nerve to at least try to hide evidence of such atrocities just before Vietnam invades (or at least put up a stronger fight during the invasion than OTL).

I'm..... not seeing it. The Khmer Rogue was too insane to destoryed evidence. Just keep killing and killing.

Maybe, but if those goons wanted to get undeserved "sympathy" for their "cause" they might as well. Though I did learn that the Khmer Rogue oddly decided not to put a fight in the capital of Cambodia so if they were to do so ITTL, then maybe they would.

But IDK, maybe the best for their case would be if the Vietnamese decided not to invade by December and if the Khmer Rogue were to figure out Hanoi's intentions, then maybe they might use the time to cover up their crimes against humanity. I honestly need to do more research into this or least get more experts on this.

No. All they would have done is killed the whole Cambodian nation off. They is really nothing sane about the Khmer Rough. If left in power, they would be no Cambodia to even speak off.

You know, you make a good point though; I'm quite surprised that the Khmer Rogue hadn't decided to fight to the last man (aka to the death) and simply chose to hide away after the capital got taken over.
