WI: Eva Braun Doesn't Die in Berlin

What if instead of joing Hitler in Berlin in April 1945, Eva Braun listens to his orders to remain in the mountains near Munich where she is not surrounded. As the US Army approaches, what becomes of her?

She is captured, and perhaps brought to Nuremburg as a witness.

Although if she'd reveal anything, that's another can of worms I can't figure out.

She wasn't renowned for being excessively bright, so I can imagine her being seen as a Nazi version of Sonia Sutcliffe.

Later on she'd be an air headed version of Traudl Jung when it comes round to making Downfall.

She becomes a huge celebrity. After all, she is Hitler's wife. However the Allies quickly would determine that she made no decisions and had no clue what was going on, and just leave her alone. She is probably sentenced by a DeNazification court and forfeits a lot of her property. Then she either becomes a recluse who dies in poverty or becomes a major supporter of Hitler in the post-war era like Goering's daughter.

She'd probably be a no-body because no one outside of Hitler's clique even knew she was with Hitler. It was a well kept secret and it was only after the war that it came out they had been together. She might gain some notoriety, but I think she'd be like Traudl; life would be unbearable after the war for her I imagine as she's the widow/girlfriend of Hitler and I think she'd not have any opportunities even to stay out of sight and probably end up committing suicide anyway.

Remember however she became the wife of Hitler because she remained in Berlin. At the same time I will not be sure the Allies knew of her existance - the Germans were aware of her only after the double suicide and the discovery of the bodies.

I think if Braun had stayed at the Berghof, she certainly would have been part of the Nuremberg Tribunal, though mostly as a witness to determine who visited the Berghof whenever Hitler resided there, since she had no real intimate knowledge of the official meetings there.

I think she lays low immedietaly after the war. Maybe Goering or Himmler's wives take her in. Maybe Speer or Goering mention her in an interrogation and Eva gets hauled in for qeustioning. After Speer publishes his book Eva decides to cash in on her 15 minutes of fame and tells her own story. Her story sells but she is still reviled by the world and spends her the rest of her life in seclusion in Brazil or Argentina. Neo Nazis and former SS men support her. If Hitler marries her before leaving Berlin maybe She and Hitler's half sister fight over the royalties from Mein Kampf.

If she's not given a new identity then someone will put a bullet in her at some point

I doubt it, there were few OTL incidents of people going after Nazi kin. Also she isn't Goeebels wife, she's just (one of serveral) women Hitler occassionally slept with. In many ways she'd be less importent than Junge was as she has absolutely no connection to the Nazi heirachy (Junge only did the typing Eva didn't even do that).
She'll fade away like Hiter's other girlfriends forgotten barring a footnote. The only exception would be if she was pregnant or gave birth to Hitler's child. If that happened she'd be a rallying point for Nazi's by default, and if she hasn't given birth by May she'll be under huge allied pressure to have an abortion. If she's at the Berghoff she's going to be reached by the western allies first so unless she dies in the final air raid on the place she's safe from any soviet plans for vengance.

I'd guess she either lives a very quiet life in west germany, or she moves to south America butshe'll be far less famous than she eas in our reality.

It depends a lot on how she reacts upon her capture and how soon it's known who she is. If she imperiously addresses the capturing troops, "I am the Fuhrer's wife and you swine are intruders here ...." things could go badly for her quickly.

After that, she's certainly dragged to Nurenburg, probably not convicted of much, but eventually assassinated by someone
