WI Eurasian Socialist Republic

WI instead of being a federal union, the USSR had become one entity, with administrative divisions but no ones based on nations, i.e. no SSRs based on ethnicity, just one gargantuan country? How would things have changed?

No interest in this one? I'm mainly thinking how would the USSR end without the predetermined boders which it split on IOTL?

It's not possible with Lenin's Bolsheviks, their nationalities policy would not change so radically upon coming to power.

I don't think this would do much good for differentiation from the old Tsarist regime.
The idea with the USSR of it technically being a bunch of equal republics and not just the Russian Empire really helped bring a lot of the smaller republics onside (yes, bullying played its part but there was also a lot of actual support).
If this was tried I would see quite a bloodier war in the Ukraine, Caucasus et al.

Stalin disapproved of giving the nationalities their own republic. Have him take control sooner and this POD takes place. Just have Lenin die 2 years earlier. And knowing Stalin, rather than give in to their petty demands, he'd use his own methods to keep those nationalities in line. ;)

Not much would change until the system collapses. Then we might see a civil war in the early 90's and the rest of the world will have to intervene to secure the nukes.

I certaintly dont think belarus or Ukraine would have ended up independent (it's not at all clear whether Belarus ever wanted to be independent)...
