Would Eritrea try to regain by military means and Would the international community care about it

What would be the impact of having a coast be on Ethiopia's economic growth and regional power projection

It would be an utter boon to Ethiopia's economic growth. And since the port is relatively out of the way, it could be offered as a compromise, where Ethiopia respects Eritrean independence in exchange for Assab and the surrounding land.

This would make Assab one of the most important cities of Africa in the future, without a doubt Ethiopia's second largest city by 2025 or so (over 7 times as large as Assab is in OTL). Search "Assab Ethiopia" on Google, and it brings up tons of articles (quite a bit of nationalistic ones at that) describing what could be for Assab and Ethiopia as a whole.

Ethiopia is by far the largest landlocked country (by population) in large part because of the failure to hold Assab. But the Ethiopian government has made so many failures since World War II, so it's yet another one of Ethiopia's many failures.

Ethiopia with a coast is going to have better economic prospects, without a doubt, and will certainly have a bigger economy (somewhat bigger) in 2017 with the addition of Assab than it does in OTL now.
