WI: Entente Victory in the Race to the Sea

I'm just wondering, would WW1 have gone any differently if the Entente had won the Race to the Sea, or at least prevented German capture of Ostend and Zeebrugge? Would lack of any potential U-Boat bases nearer than West Germany have hurt the U-Boats and given the Entente an easier time?

Interesting. With more of Belgium in Allied hands then the nature of the war changes in a number of subtle ways. Hopefully Bruges is safe - a beautiful place that was spared major damage in both world wars.

Well I'm assuming they put fewer troops into France, and shuttle the rest directly into the Belgian ports. Of course that means that the Germans aren't pushed back so far after Marne, but remember that Britain will be acting in the interests of itself and it's primary ally (Belgium)
