WI: England beats Scotland

what would be the effects if England had won the First War of Scottish Independence, unifying great Britain 400 years before OTL? How would Ireland, Europe and Colonization be affected?

That depends on whether or not the Scotish won't be a thorn in the English side. If they are it could create a nasty problem if the English are drawn into more conflicts with France. I don't think their would be a Great Britan at least as we know it, which was a union of 2 crowns. We could have a kingdom of England and Scotland, or a Scotland that recognizes England as it's overlord, assuming nothing changes.

There's a big difference between winning the war and actually uniting the kingdoms. The English managed on a number of occasions to overrun Scotland and declare it subject to England, the problem was that there was no appetite at all in Scotland for union, the English lacked the money and men to effectively pacify the country, so all they were ever able to do was occupy Scotland's four major castles and pretend they controlled the land from there. The Scots, meanwhile, waited patiently for their chance and when English backs were metaphorically turned, and the garrisons made a mistake, the Scots would overrun them and slaughter the troops, and England would be back to square one with no control over Scotland and having to invade all over again to restore control.

Honestly, with no Scots willing to support an English occupation, I'm really not sure how you can make annexation stick.

thanks for the information Falastur, i didn't know that.

but even if it is somewhat ASB, what would the effects be (regarding Ireland, Europe and colonization) if England successfully invaded, conquered and pacified Scotland during the first war of Scottish independence?

It's keeping the clans in line that matter. Every man has his price and I expect a good few clan leaders would be happy to sell out in order to get wealthy lands in England. :)
