Romanos II, father of Basil II and Constantine VIII, died in 963 at the age of 25, after a reign of 4 years and just after the birth of his only daughter, Anna Porphyrogenita. What if Romanos had survived? What affect would this have had on the upbringing of his children? Personally, I don't think Theophano poisoned him. She had nothing to gain and everything to lose.
