WI:Elvis had lived and fired Colonel Tom Parker?

Lets just say that Elvis was healthy and never had a drug addiction, thats probably one of the reasons why Colonel Tom Parker kept his job(yes he fired him but they still worked together throughout his last years) When do you think Elvis Presley would have fired Colonel Tom Parker and why?

He screwed elvis out of millions, and i think elvis would have figured it out if he had not been in a drug induced stupor virtually 24/7. led zeppelin's manager, peter grant would have done all he could if elvis fired col parker! he would have gotten elvis to tour the world and make millions and shatter records.
other than hawaii, elvis never performed or gave a concert outside of the continental usa.

Elvis did plan to fire both the Colonel and his road manager, Joe Esposito, in September 1977, had he lived. Joe would have been replaced by Elvis's favorite cousin, Billy Smith.

Peter Grant

Maybe it would have worked but what would Elvis Preskey had done after Peter Grant passed away in 1995?

But what would happen to Elvis in 1995 after the death of Peter Grant?

Let's face facts, Elvis was becoming a has been by the mid 1960s. He had his day but time was passing him by. This is inevitible as no one stays on top forever.

Grant would have been his overseas touring agent, at best. Should Elvis fire Colonel Tom in 1973 or 1977, there would have been hundreds of managers and record companies out there who would have given everything just to have Elvis as their client. They would have bought the contract and tell the Colonel to go to hell and also help Elvis in recovering his stolen millions from the Colonel.

Bit off topic I know but I do wonder why Southern Gentlemen call themselves Colonels in some cases, I'm assuming its not a military rank.

Wasn't one of the reasons why Elvis never performed outside of the U.S. was because Parker was really Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk, an illegal Dutch immigrant who therefore wouldn't have been able to get a passport?

Even if Elvis' best days were behind him by the mid 1970's a World Tour would have been a huge event as millions had never seen him live before.

I've heard that too, though I also heard Elvis had a fobia of flying.

Agreed on both points there.

Don't know about Colonel Sanders, but Wikipedia has this to say about Tom Parker:

In 1948, Parker received the rank of colonel in the Louisiana State Militia from Jimmie Davis, the governor of Louisiana and former country singer, in return for work he did on Davis's election campaign.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Tom_Parker#cite_note-Victor-9 Parker used the title throughout his life, becoming known simply as "the Colonel" to many acquaintances.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Tom_Parker#cite_note-Victor-9

Wikipedia also refers to Parker's actual military service:

He served two years in the 64th Regiment of the Coast Artillery at Fort Shafter in Hawaii, and shortly afterwards re-enlisted at Fort Barrancas, Florida.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Tom_Parker#cite_note-Victor2-3 Although Parker had served honorably before, he went AWOL this time and was charged with desertion.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Tom_Parker#cite_note-Victor2-3 He was punished with solitary confinement, from which he emerged with a psychosis that led to two months in a mental hospital.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Tom_Parker#cite_note-Victor2-3 He was discharged from the Army due to his mental condition.

Not exactly a sparkling record!
